MISSION STATEMENT

Our mission is to provide Muslim community of Fort McMurray with religious, educational, cultural, and social services positively contributing to society. Our goal is to facilitate the path to Islam in accordance with The Qur'an and Sunnah (traditions of Prophet Mohammed PBUH) through religious, spiritual and moral guidance and social interaction.

Vision:
With willful and sound observance of Quran and Sunnah:

• A vibrant Muslim community achieved through exemplary conduct, education, leadership and social services.

• Contribute to meet the needs of the community by sincere and generous giving and volunteerism.

• Outreach to all walks of life and institutions by extending the message of Islam and building good relations.

HISTORY

Markaz-Ul-Islam was established in 1983 and Masjid’s construction was completed in 1991. This Masjid (mosque) is the most northern Masjid in the world after Alaska and North West Territories. Today, more than 600 Muslim families live in Fort McMurray, Alberta.

This diverse community is united under the umbrella of Islam representing various nationalities and backgrounds. Our community offers broader range of expertise and services to this region. Most of Muslim Community affairs are managed under Markaz-Ul-Islam.

We have established an Islamic School that is integrated with our Public Education System. To keep up with the growing needs of our community we have initiated a project called “New Islamic Center that will include our community center, Masjid and School - all in one (more details can be found under New Islamic Center section).
